About Wiigul Mentoring Services
My name is April and I am a proud Gumbaynggirr Woman living and working on beautiful Birpai Country. I am a Clinical Social worker with a background working with children, young people and their families. Throughout my career I have worked alongside children, young people, and families, I’ve witnessed a clear and growing need for culturally safe, one-on-one support grounded in empathy and trust. In response to this, I created Wiigul Mentoring Services — a space where people are supported to reconnect, heal, and thrive. At Wiigul Mentoring Services, our approach is both trauma-informed and strengths-based, recognising the resilience and potential within every individual and family. Our goal is simple: to walk alongside our clients with integrity and compassion, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve meaningful, self-directed outcomes.
Wiigul Mentoring Services specialises in:
One-on-One Mentoring: Tailored mentoring support for individuals navigating complex systems and life transitions.
Planning and Goal Setting: Practical, culturally aware strategies to support personal growth and long-term wellbeing.
Advocacy Services: Standing beside clients to ensure their voices are heard and respected in all aspects of care and planning.
A core focus of our work is supporting First Nations children and young people living in out-of-home care, particularly those who have become disconnected from culture. We also provide mentoring for single parents working through family preservation or restoration, offering a respectful space to develop new strategies and rebuild confidence.
In addition, Wiigul Mentoring offers counselling and cultural supervision to support professionals meeting their CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirements, with a strong emphasis on reflective, culturally grounded practice.
